Hello and welcome to Ashgrove Calisthenics Club

Club Endeavours

Our Club aims to perform as well as we can in our chosen sport, whilst at the same time having a lot of fun and enjoying the wonderful attributes calisthenics has to offer.

One of the special features of any sport is the opportunity to socialise and make new friends. It is the people who participate in a team that make a happy club and add so much to the shared good times.

We hope our website will give you an insight into how Ashgrove Calisthenics operates, however if there are any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Club History

Our club first resided in a church hall in Ashburton and was known as St Matthews Calisthenic Club, and participated as a competitive club at local competitions.

In 1980 the club moved to a more suitable facility, our present location, in Ashburton.  At this time the club changed its name to Ashgrove Calisthenic Club and in 1990 became an incorporated body.

Our Principal Coach, Bev G, has been with our club since the late 1960’s.

Annual Concert

Last Saturday night was the Annual Concert, where all the girls put on a beautiful display. It was a wonderful showcase of the girls ability and the creative talents of the coaches who spend many months choreographing the items.  The Masters also contributes with a medley item.  Thank you to the girls, coaches, committee, stage crew and parents for their efforts in making this a night to remember.

Inters at Ballarat

The Inters had an eventful Ballarat.  After Her Majesty’s Theatre was damaged by flooding the day before the competition, it looked like the competition would be cancelled which would have been a huge disappointment after all the work the girls put in to prepare for it. However the Royal South Street Society did a fantastic job to re-arrange an alternate venue and the competition went ahead.  Due to time limitations at the new venue the coaches were asked to nominate one item to be removed. It was decided to remove Aesthetics. The girls worked to the best of their abilities and had fun.
